The Ganghoferlauf

History:

The toughest cross-country race in its class is named after Ludwig Ganghofer, the most popular local writer of the 18th and 19th centuries, who found his creative retreat in Leutasch. Cross-country skiing fascinates countless winter sports enthusiasts and so numerous enthusiastic cross-country skiers also take part in the annual Ganghofer Run.

Venue : Ganghofer Run

The venue for the Ganghofer Run is the Olympic region of Leutasch-Seefeld, which, due to its many cross-country skiing trails, is repeatedly the venue for cross-country skiing events and World Cup races in cross-country skiing. Participants in the Ganghofer Run in Leutasch compete in the 24 km classic and 20 km skating categories to win the coveted Ganghofer Run trophy and considerable prize money.
If that's not enough for you, you can start in the 42 km skating marathon of the Ganghofer Run, which leads right through the magnificent mountain world of the Leutasch valley on the Seefeld plateau.
The Ganghofer Run has long since become a cult among cross-country skiers and ensures unique racing experiences amidst the breathtaking winter landscape of Leutasch.

Mini Ganghofer Run

The Ganghoferlauf Leutasch is also dedicated to the youngest cross-country skiers. In addition to the traditional Ganghofer Run, the Mini Ganghofer Run also takes place in Leutasch every year. In the categories "Dwarfs", "Children" and "Pupils", the little ones compete against each other and try to emulate the big ones. The little participants in the Ganghofer Run Leutasch can expect valuable prizes, a great starting package and lots of fun and action.

In addition to attending the Ganghoferlauf, you also have the opportunity to take part in a waxing course for perfect cross-country skis. Of course, we also have our own ski waxing table at Chalet Cristall. The sausage and noodle parties, where you can refuel your body's energy reserves free of charge and really fortify yourself before the strenuous race, also ensure you have enough energy at the Ganghoferlauf Leutasch. Musical entertainment is also provided at the Ganghoferlauf.

The Ganghoferlauf Leutasch is the oldest public race in Tyrol and will once again delight the public and cross-country skiers alike this winter.

One of the most popular huts, the Rotmoosalm, even offers romantic harp music and can also be reached by horse-drawn sleigh. Our horse-drawn sleigh driver is right in the neighbourhood.

Whether trekking, mountain hiking or pleasure hiking: With more than 15,000 kilometres of marked hiking and mountain trails, there is bound to be the right route for you. Tyrol's best-known long-distance hiking trail, the Adlerweg (Eagle's Path), traverses the heart of the Alps over a distance of 1,480 kilometres and impressively shows the beauty, uniqueness and character of the country and is only a 5-minute walk from Chalet Cristall. Consequently, you can explore the legendary Adlerweg directly from your apartment west towards the Zugspitze or east towards the Hohe Tauern National Park!
